This week, the rhyme I am listening to is "Pat a cake". I'm loving it.
She told me that the origin of this rhyme is unknown but the earliest traceable publication is from 1698. Ohhh,,, quite an old one but the tradition of decorating cake with name or the initial of child's name is still adhered.
On my first birthday I will have my name written on my cake. That's why mom replaced B in the rhyme with A :)
The rhyme goes like this:
Pat a cake, Pat a cake, baker's man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can;
Pat it and prick it and mark it with a 'B',
